Hi all,
Thanks for all the tips and info. I now know for sure I have a 6100 series. We got the old engine out today and did some inspection of frame, cross members etc. and have settled on a universal fit front cross member, the bell housing we will need, rear mounts and a new clutch and flywheel. I think while I have everything out I will examine the innards of my trans. and make any needed upgrades(seals, change oil etc...)I have the standard SM420. Does anyone have any tips on what to look for during my exam? Mainly what oil should I use.
When I learn how to post a picture I will let everyone see what I have been working on. One thing I noticed when we removed the old engine was how much heavier it was than the 250. The thing weighed a ton! Also the head was much thicker than the 250. Basically they were much the same. At least I wont have to have the choke pulled out on this one for it to run(old story).
Thanks again,
JMH
