I have a 55 second, 3600 with 8 lug wheels. I read somewhere (probably here) that the 80's Ford Econoline rims are a good step away from the split rims. The only followup change would be to change the tie rod ends for the modern one ton parts. I have located some 1988 Econoline E350 8 lug rims with LT-215/85 R 16 tires. I have also located some Chevy steel wheels from a 1995 1 ton van. Which is the better choice and why? Is there another stock steel wheel that might be recommended? I would like to get away from the spit rims so I can use some decent radials.
