Could someone explain the symptoms of a timing problem in a 1953 3100 with a 216 cubic inch engine. My truck runs better choked, I have a strong fuel smell from exhaust and periodic back firing. In addition, can anyone offer advice on a good timing light to purchase? Thanks
The strong fuel smell is from having to choke it.
Periodic back fire could be a sticking valve.
Carburetor may have issues/ possibly need to rebuild.
