squeeze you have documented some really helpful info. dwm i rebuilt one of those columns 27 years ago just to get a original 64' c-10 out of the guys garage with all new factory parts he had purchased and it was no fun as i think after the 3rd time i drove the truck down the road, made a call to a buddy asking him to bring his trailer because 1st gear was all i could get. the truck only had 50k on it when it was parked because of linkage problems and the guy wouldn't sell it unless i drove it away. you need to find exploded view or somebody that has done more than i rebuild. good luck.
