I am in the process of converting my '50 to four wheel drive. I chose to sling a front drive axle under mine. In the process, I gained about 8" of alititude! A little too much for my needs, but I'm kind of stuck with it now. If I had to do it over again, I think I would put the body on a 4x4 chassis, and avoid the "engineering night mares".
