You'll need to remove the radiator, water pump, balancer, valve cover and lifter covers. Remove the fasteners through the cam thrust plate (behind the holes in the gear). Set the engine to #1 cylinder at TDC, the marks on the cam and crank gears aligned and the rotor pointing to the #1 spark plug. After you have removed the lifters and distributor, the cam should pull out. Take care not to mar the cam bearings by pulling the cam out straight. If you don't have the gear marks aligned, the cam will not clear the crankshaft either at #3 or #4, I can't remember which.
