maybe part of the problem with the chrome bead being "too stiff" is that it needs to be put in the rubber before the rubber is installed? I'd find some different help for the 2nd round

Bill,the rear rubbers i.e for the corner and rear windows are designed to be worked into the rubber
before the lock strip is installed.
Not to blow my own trumpet but check out my link in DADS50 post.
It sounds like Monica's installer was too heavy handed working the rubber over the glass edges.
The quality of rubber also has a huge bearing on 'workability'.
Cheap rubber tends to tear as it passes over the glass.
Like a lot of folks I've learned through experience.
