1942 is on the side of the distributor.

1947 (Advance-Design) is on the plate. But further on in the manual the tag is shown on the side of the distributor.

The 48-52 Shop Manual shows the distributor ID information on the points plate but in the engine section the distributor is shown with the tag on the side of it?

The tag is not shown on the distributor in the 1954 manual.

Some parts on the 235 distributor changed in 1953, Maybe the exterior tag was deleted with those changes.
