Gotta say, love my truck, but not in love with that crash-box! 1941 1.5 ton. If I drove it more often, it would be better, no doubt. As it is, I grind quite a bit, and have to re-learn the sound of the right engine speed to release the clutch after up-shifting.
I'm the opposite of Bob C., though. I find, if I hold the shifter between my pointer and middle fingers, with my palm face-up, it helps me to be gentler, and shift without cramming it and getting yelled at my the tranny.
For me, 1st-to-2nd is a bear. The others seem more forgiving.
I suppose the truck's weight has something to do with it, and my fire truck is likely heavier than most, 'cept maybe for a dump-truck.
