Looks like it clamps on to the radiator / firewall brace rod for ( 4 ) piece hood assemblies. Rubber tip goes to the " knee joint " between top and side hoods. I have seen a couple of different versions, including home made. Would take the stress off the back corner of the side hood when open ( resting on firewall )
