Well, it looks like Spanky furnished some interesting information in another post a few lines down. Apparently my 6400 came with the, "Loadmaster," engine which was a 235. I didn't know they made a 235 in 1949. However, this now begs two more questions:
If true, does the 1949 235 have a real oil pump? Splash system? Insert bearings? And it must have produced only the 15-18 pounds oil pressure like the 216 if my dash gauge, (max of 30 pounds), is right.
Lastly, with no engine/vehicle number whatsoever stamped behind my distributor, if this means a replacement engine, could I still have a later engine and if so, how do I tell?
