So I should have no problems bolting a 216 1947 bellhousing to a 261 1961 ...?
Would a larger 11" 1961 flywheel & clutch still fit...?
If not, which bell housing to look for between a 261 1961 and a 1947 original 3-speed...?
I experienced a surprise 2 years ago when I replaced my flywheel and clutch on my 1952 truck with 235 from 1962.
I wanted to upgrade from my 9-1/4" setup to the larger 11".
However a 1962 11" flywheel did NOT bolt onto the crankshaft.
I had to get a 1955 resurfaced 9-1/4" flywheel like I used to have.
I know my 52 truck and 62 engine was rebuilt with 54/55 parts, before I got it.
So I figured maybe the crankshaft on mine was 55 to match with the original transmission and 9-1/4" clutch.
Pretty mysterious still today.
