I've got a '57 Chevy 6400 dump, dual wheel, 12 foot steel floor dump bed, truck weighs 8500 lbs empty. The 6400 series is a 2 ton truck, your '54 may be somewhat lighter if the floor is wood, but I imagine it'll weigh at least 6500+ lbs.
