The Monojet didn't come out till 68, but a PO could have put one on at one time. There is a filter behind the inlet nut. You say the fuel bowl is filling up. How about the float level. If the accel. pump is not pumping gas the check valve could be stuck or the piston is defective. Make sure the links to the accel. pump & metering rod are hooked to the bracket on the throttle shaft.
