unlikely the tie rod is shot, unless it's obviously bent [or has a piece of angle welded to it because it was bent] - have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth [stopped!] while you watch underneath - just look for excess slop without any wheel movement .... might need some of the joints replaced, like the tie rod ends ... don't worry about imported, they'll work
