I recently installed a new speedometer cable with a plastic male part that enters the speedometer in my '53 3600. After a few hundred miles, the speedometer quit working. I inspected both ends of the cable and found that the transmission end is square steel and looks like new but the speedometer end is plastic and appears to have rounded off to a point. Should the proper cable have steel on both ends? Any other ideas?
Thanks
John
