It uses a Ford (Mustang/T-Bird) control valve that takes the place of the drag link and has a ram that mounts on the center tie rod. I had the unit for about a year and finally gave up on it. It performs well for slow speeds & parking but you have very little feel of the road in straight line driving. I tried adding & subtracting washers to the pump control valve to change the pressure. It was always too much or too little. I even changed to the newer tie rod ends but that didn't help either. Also, if you have any play in the steering gear or steering linkage it just magnifies the problem. I'ts a lot more work but the Toyota box works great. Fred
