Good info, especially the tutorial on block heating and coooling. He deliberately cracked the Caterpillar block, though, by getting it too hot in one place and letting it cool too quickly. I've brazed several cracked blocks by controlling the heating and cool-down better. Arc welding a block is very tricky, but doable.
