Yes, the number stamped on the door lock is the key code. And there were 1500 key codes, starting at 8000 and going to 9499. These same codes were used from 1935 to 1966 for all GM vehicles. It might be hard to find a locksmith with the code book in UK. I have one. PM me if you need info for your local locksmith.
