My experience has been that the original Rochester B's run rich. A rebuild kit MAY help but thats just the way they are. The idle adjustment (thats the screw on the base of the carby)will lean out the mixture at idle but it will still run rich when not at idle. There is no adjustment I am aware of other than changing the jet and thats only if you know what you have and can find a smaller one. Many folks, me included, switched to the Carter YF carb.
