Sounds like you need to get yourself a small tubing cutter. Also a double flare kit if you already doen't have one. Some kits even come with the cutter. Autozone, Napa, Advance Auto Parts all have these. Real easy to use and you get a nicw straight cut. The double flare it is also easy to use. I've been using them since I was around 10 years old.
