I changed the locked up 216 for a 235 in my 53 3100.
Over the past year & a half replaced the clutch, brake lines & cylinders, gas tank & lines, radiator, water pump & a long list of other parts repairs & adjustments.
In April I started the motor to make sure oil pressure was good. I only run the motor 30 seconds 4 or 5 times in one week it never got hot. After fixing all the water, gas & oil leaks I moved on to other adjustments & repairs for the past several months.
Yesterday I thought it was time for a driving test so I checked all the fluid levels when I took off the radiator cap there was what appears to be a sheet of peeled off paint floating on the water. The radiator is a new Chevy Duty. It was easy to pull out the paint in 3 or 4 large sheets. Today I plan to drain the water by taking off the lower hose to see if paint peeled in the lower end of the radiator.
I am sure glad It was not run long or driven with that mess in the water to get in the core or the pump.
Anyone think this will be all that needs doing before starting the engine again ?
