It does present a problem being you can,t shift to reverse. Have you taken the lever out of the cover yet. You press down on the collar with pliers 7 turn it counter-clocwise about 30 degrees. You might find the problem there or be able to shift partway into reverse with a big screwdriver. Those are tough tranny,s. They are hard to work on but I think you will know a lot about it before long. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though.
