Ganesh, from what I gather you are referring to what's known as Garnish mouldings.
They are purely cosmetic.
If you are doing a full restoration,surely you would want to remove them?
There maybe underlying rust issues at the lower windshield openings.
To re-install your windshields you will have to remove the garnishes anyway.
