I'm in the process of sorting out the speedo and gauges on my 1952 Chevy 3100.
I have determined that the oil pressure gauge is Good. The water temp gauge is dead. The charge gauge is OK.
The fuel gauge however is driving me nuts. Initially the gauge showed empty all the time, despite removing the sender wire. The ignition wire is live when the ignition is on giving 12v.
Looking at the back, the ignition live wire however appeared to be on the wrong terminal, the red coloured one having the sender wire on. So I swapped them and now have a gauge that reads full immediately the ignition is switched on, irrespective of connecting a ground wire direct to the sender terminal.
Help!
I'm hoping that the full reading means that the gauge is OK, but if I'm honest I'm stumped!
