You say you brought it in to finish. It doesn't sound like much has been done. The 292 was a totally different generation of engines and did not come out until about 1962. The quick way to identify it is by its 2 piece push rod cover and distributor towards the front of the engine. Just about everything in the cab except the 2 speed control is the same as in a pickup and repops are available. However, brakes, bearings, 2 speed vacuum controls are obsolete. Brake parts ble as well as bearings as well as bearings are available, but they are very expensive. And of course there are 6 tires instead of 4 and they are not cheap either. I have several GMC's two ton and up. The only reason is because I have been in the trucking business for over 45 years and I collect them. I hope whoever is paying the bill is prepared to spend big bucks and end up with a truck that is worth very little if it has to be sold.
