Probably vaccum - cheap insurance to replace the vacuum advance and other hoses. That would explain the variance at idle vs. speed, and the works well one minute and not the next kindof symptoms.

Possibly electrical - double check all the connections are tight. I've had a loose coil wire cause a car to run fine at idle and flip out at high RPMs, or vice versa.
