I thought the SS lines came with a different angle on the flares. I have never used them but I remember this being talked about.
That is somewhat correct. Used to be that SS lines used a 37 degree single flare, instead of the 45 degree double flare. This had more to do with the SS line tending to crack if a double flare was formed. IIRC, AN fittings used the same flare (Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that). With the 37 degree falre, adapters would have to be used the allow them to work woth existing brake compnents. The DOT actually frowned on SS lines because of that. The newer SS lines are a different alloy, which can take a 45 degree double flare without cracking.
Personally, on a driver, regular steel lines work just fine. About the only line I would consider dong in SS would be the feul line, just due to the ethanol that's in todays gas.
