i converted a 46 1 1/2 ton to a 1/2 ton 4x4, i would have to say it probably be easier to use a 4x4 frame. ones ive seen i beleive use a blazer frame on the 48 to 54 trucks.by using a 4x4 frame steering is already hooked up, mounts for v8, trans, etc,i used narrower axles so the tires did nt hang out of the fenders to far because the 46s bodies are so much narrower
