Are you still planning on pulling the tranny? Just curious to know whether or not I had swayed your opinion.
The water pump, while it probably looks similar, I'd bet it's longer, and will cause you some issues. As previously stated, nothing that can't be easily resolved, but something you'll sure want to check out so that you have adequate clearance between the fan and the radiator.
If you do a search in this forum on a 235 water pump, I'm sure you'll find all kinds of information on how others have resolved this same issue.
