Thanks for the feedback. I was mistaken when I said the rear of the 56 was 6 lug, it is 10. My brother has a parts book for both trucks and it shows the 10 bolt front and rear for the 56. The front axle is eaton and is 7000lb. The rear axle is the 18000lb model. We do have the air compressor for the 56. It still has the hole in the roof where the horn was. It is an electric eaton 2 speed axle as well.
On the 44, according to the parts book my brother says it is a maple leaf truck although it has none of the markings. It has a gmc engine in it as well. The parts book has two part numbers for steering wheels on these trucks although it doesn't say what either one of them are. The wooden steering wheel still remains a mystery.
