hey guys. tried looking thru past threads for my answers,but no luck. first when did 12 volt systems start? i looked on truck, no luck. the coil actually says 6/12volt on it!i put a 1958 chevy 235 in my first series 55 gmc.the chevy and gmc had the exact same 4-speed open drive line trans.2nd if its 6v,i have a 1940 starter from a 1 1/2 ton that bolts in, but will the gears match? 3rd, i found a hei distributer in a late 70s inline 6. will it fit the older moter to convert to 12? thanks for any help
