I'm running '58 farm truck plates. They were able to get over the "farm truck" designation without too much problem. For them (again, in Parker county, but I'm at the east end wink ) it was most important that they are the correct color for the year of manufacture. She verified color correctness, then took a photocopy of both plates to show that they were in good usable condition, and handed me back the plates with the tag.

One last thing: the woman at the second window tried giving "advice" to the woman I was working with. She had heartburn over the farm truck designation. I pulled out the argument "If I had '58 dealer tags, I could run them without being a dealer, right? It is the same thing with farm tags and me not using this for farm purposes." She agreed and let it ride.
