v8 or 6 cylinder? 2wd or 4wd? There are several companies that make kits for sbc engines. a couple that come to mind are novac conversions and advance adapters.

Some kits will swap out the entire bellhousing. others will have a plate that will allow you to mate the nv4500 to your bellhousing letting you use your stock clutch. Buffalo enterprises could make that adapter that goes between the engine and transmission. You may be able to use the bellhousing and clutch assembly from a chevy equipped with an nv4500.

You need to pay attention to the particular version of the nv4500. If it is going in a 2wd truck the 92-97 dodge version seems to work best because it is the only version that has a mechanical speedo gear. The early chevy units are considered the best choice for a 4wd because they have a lower 1st gear ratio. the speedo cable would then be attatched to the transfer case.

As for actually putting one in... Not yet, but planning to do it in my 1940 gmc!
