The D is a code for the combination of manufacturing plant and model.Most likely the engine has a valve cover with two bolts n the top? If any of the above is not correct, we can trust that someone will post corrections (please). _____ Here's a wild guess on the D in JAD - option 313 (Powerglide transmission) from the Flint plant. One way to tell if this is a good guess would be to see if it has hydraulic lifters.
