yeah, it was some kind of tarry stuff like an undercoating, probably brushed on like roofing lap cement, seems to have gotten brittle with age - I'm using the rubberized rocker guard spray on the inside of the bus skin, helps stop condensation, but I think it sets up too fast to be useable as a glue for overhead
