Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!

For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | There are two sources of adapter plates that I am aware of. Langdon's Stovebolt makes one and Buffalo Enterprises makes one. Langdon is probably linked from the vendor list here and Buffalo can be found on the Inliners.org site. I'd expect to spend $400-ish.
The TH400 is much heavier than a TH350 and consumes more power in operation. I think its overkill for a mid 50s six unless you are running a blower and nitrous. Maybe even then.
You probably want gears somewhere in the 3's. Engine mods, tire size, highway speed and loaded weight would all affect what is 'best' in your case.
