I agree with Fred on this.
If driving from Fort Worth to God awfull west texas there is not a lot of traffic. But buzzing around the inner states of Dallas I keep in mind that my truck is of 50s vintage. This was the time when roads were crappy and people were in the same predicament in terms of speed and stopping distances. 2010 brings snappy little cars that are light, zip in and out of traffic for no reason, and stop quickly with modern disc brakes.
When I leave the "safe distance" for safety people honk horns, give me the finger, and yell. They're not from around here. I smile because I like my old original truck.
