I had one in my '65 C-10, mounted on bracket bolted where the tailshaft housing attached to the gearbox. Floor hole was off-center, but still in front of the seat.
When I put the Saginaw 4-speed in, I fabricated a plate to mount the shifter forward of the mount points on the trans, so I only had to enlarge the floor hole a little. Also, some tricky bending of the very short shift rods.
I've seen aftermarket kits for converting column shift to floor shift, Hurst I think.
