I'd like the correct answer to this one, also. These shifter boxes seem so simple, but it appears that the settings and clearances are critical. I put the spring on with one turn, and latched the straight end around the "dog" that moves in between the gates. This place tension on both shifter arms. However, I'm not certain that it is on correctly. It's working reasonably well. Does anyone have any closeup pics of this box inside? The one picture I have found in a manual is very difficult to make out how the spring is set.
