Jeff Nelson: a small correction on your post; a 180 degree turn is actually no turn, it is straight. You meant to say a 360 degree turn, did you not? Think about it.
My opinion is, that either works fine when used correctly, but most manufacturers have gone to dry filters for two reasons: cheaper to put on the vehicles initially, and then they get to sell you lots of disposable filters down the line. So it all boils down to the almighty dollar.
