The NP transmission is actually pretty desirable. I wouldn't swap it for a T-5, it has almost ideal gears for a 235, and the shifter is in the right spot. I keep hoping I'll run into a good one around here but haven't yet.
I'm relatively sure you can use the original bell housing for your truck with this transmission and it will fit just fine. I'm using a '50 bellhousing on my 261, it fits fine with the original clutch setup. The 261 is a 62 and it had a hydraulic bellhousing on it when I got it.
