Hi All,
My 1951 3600 has a section of frame rail that is badly rusted. There is a section about a foot or foot and a half long in front of the right rear wheel that needs to be repaired. The bottom flange of the rail is about 80% gone, the vertical portion is okay except at the very bottom the the top flange is good. It looks like water and salt layed in there and worked their magic. The rest of the frame is in excellent condition. How should this bad section be repaired? Is it best to weld flat stock over the bad portion on the bottom and side or is it better to cut that section of the frame out and look for a frame section? What do you think?
Rick
