As for the design flaw, are you sure the guy wasn't talking about the 4500 (5 speed). They definitely had a design flaw with the nut that holds fifth gear falling off... Never heard that with the 5600.... What I've heard of is bearing failures, and they usually seize up and spin in the case, ruining the tranny case and shaft in the process....
