Get a shop manual for Your truck and keep it on the work bench while Your building the truck it will give You all the specs on Your engine and all the info on Your truck .
No the cam should not get hard to turn after You install the plate there is a spec for setting the plate
There are shop manuals on line You could look thru I don't where to find them but somone here will give You the info.
