The simple way is to look for the triangular-shaped "oil distributor" assembly down near the oil pan rail on the driver's side middle of the engine. It's a piece of stamped sheet metal attached with three bolts, IIRC. The splash-oilers will have that item, whether they're 216 or 235, and the full-pressure 235's don't have it.
