Just a suggestion...
I have pretty limited means right now, 1 car garage, very little money to put into the truck, definitely not enough dough or space for a big compressor and bead blasting cabinet.
So when I wanted to de-rust my manifolds, I used phosphoric acid (availiable at home depot). 4 gallons will run you about $65 and it will clean them up perfectly (and you can reuse, and reuse etc. etc. . I just did it in a 5 gallon bucket, and did them 1/2 at a time. make sure to hose it off, and dry with an old towel afterward, of else you'll be left with a layer of white phosphoric acid dust. Just got done with the intake last night, and it looks brand new. If there's heavy rusting (There most likely will be on the exhaust manifold) there will be a light layer of grey crud left on there afterward. About 10 minutes with a wire brush and it will be good as new.
I'll get pictures posted sometime soon, it's amazing what a difference it has made.
i agree with the others that bead blasting is the bees knees, but like my Dad always says "poor folk got poor ways"
