Dan the problem with most modern cable and pulley type systems is they are designed to work with curved glass.i.e. the regulator follows an arc.
There are some lever type regulators that might work,but none that I know of at the moment.
It might take a junkyard 'tour' and some more research......
I'm not sure if you guys have the F*rd Transit over there,but i'm looking into that one myself.
They have a relatively compact,self contained lever type regulator.
