Base/Clear the only way to go ? That might be true if you need to spend more money and are looking to get depth in your paint job.
But you have to remember the great looking paint jobs there were before B/C even showed up.
I paint both using acrylic enamel when it's not going on some show piece and I don't want to spend all that money for B/C.
As far as durability I haven't seen much difference if you leave it out in the sun 24/7 and only wax it it every 2 years.
Now my 95 acrylic paint job which I always keep waxed and sometimes it's in the garage still looks great today.
I think what use use depends on what you want the end result to be for the dollar it cost.
B/C might be the way to go, but I'm not going to put it on one of my tractors unless I want to create a show tractor and even then it's kinda over kill for a tractor. If your truck is totally stock, B/C on a truck that's 60 years old is not stock looking.
