yes, the 3 and 4 speeds will interchange, no it wouldn't be a "good" replacement, unless you plan on needing the granny 1st to crawl around the farm, high gear in both is the same
haveing a fresh engine would be a treat, and for me a 235 would trump a 216, but it won't be cheap
